Cast members from five different Star Trek series, including George Takei, Patrick Stewart and Kate Mulgrew, will take part next week in a fundraiser for Joe Biden, just the latest way that his campaign has tapped pop culture for campaign cash.
The virtual event also will include Alison Pill, Anthony Rapp, Brent Spiner, Evan Evagora, Gates McFadden, Isa Briones, Jeri Ryan, Jonathan Del Arco, Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, Marina Sirtis, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, Sonequa Martin-Green, Wil Wheaton and Wilson Cruz.
Andrew Yang, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg and Stacey Abrams also will participate.

(65,207 posts)For instance, Johnathon Del ARCO played a character in 3 episodes. He played "Hugh" a Borg who bring down the Borg Collective by learning individuality in the episode "I, Borg".
For you other Trekkers: Yes, they blew up that story arc by making First Contact. But, that movie was outstanding so I gave them a pass on that!

(65,207 posts)Haven't seen it as Comcast never struck a deal for CBS All Access.
I pay enough to Comcast. I didn't want to pay extra.
Now, that you've mentioned it, I recall the early write ups on Picard mentioned that.

(65,207 posts)I know I could stream on my tablet, but my tablet isn't going through my big surround sound system.
I'd have to watch a Star Trek thing with the full audio. I wouldn't enjoy it without.

(129,543 posts)by checking in with what Shatner is doing (since he is getting up there). And Shatner (being a Canadian citizen) has begged off getting involved in U.S. politics (although I expect he could... easily let loose)... but Marina had replied to him about some of his stuff related to horses and then I went over to her feed and was I know she and Brent Spiner have been ranting. I know Wil Wheaton has probably been ranting too.
I think it is CNN that has been running the Patrick Stewart - Mark Hamill Uber Eats commercial (and I can imagine how many takes it might have required to do that ad).

It's amazing that after 50 years of being a follower/fan of both "series", enduring the endless debates about Kirk vs Picard and the hardcore Star Wars fans hating extreme on Star Trek and whatnot, that ad was catharsis for me.

(1,648 posts)Oh, and a few months ago Republicans were referring to the Democratic Party as the Borg and they were likening themselves as Starfleet defeating the Borg assimilation.
I suspected that someone close to tRUMP or tRUMP itself has a fixation with Star Trek, but Republicans do not realize they are the exact opposite of what Star Trek stood for on ideals.

(20,733 posts)Now, if they told me the Next Gen leads were singing and dancing, ther'yd be no way I'd miss it. Stewart, Frakes and Spiner are all Fred Astair wannabes! They WISH they were song and dance men! Too funny!!!
Some serious beefcake goin on there.....
