Warning: Things are about to get funny/sad/angry with RW family/friends

I cant decide if I'm going to be the bigger person and just be quiet while their candidate gets whooped in Dukakis-like fashion or show up to Thanksgiving in my Obama shirt. One thing's for sure, they are getting desperate and just plain mean in their rantings and ravings online. I wonder if anyone thought Facebook would be a proxy for nasty political back and forth between family and friends like it has become.

Oh well, either be nice or be a prick, but watch out for their venom and insanity.

My sister called me last week to tell me her cancer had returned and spread. As I was trying to talk her into going to MD Anderson her husband (a major asshole Repuke) grabs the phone and says "well I suppose you are voting for Obama again". I said "hell yes" and he immediately blew a gasket and started screaming about what a loser Obama is blah blah blah. Here is his wife of over 40 years just being diagnosed with a recurrence of cancer and all he wants to talk about is what a loser Obama is. I want so badly to call his sorry ass on the night of Nov. 6 and gloat but I won't because my sister loves him.

Most of real friends who are on facebook are liberal. My aquaintances from HS and other places are either non political or are being silent. I've only seen three relatives post pro-Romney items. And ever since my parents started progressing in their dementia, we never discuss politics anymore.

When I have seen an anti-Obama post from a FB aquaintance I have no contact with in real life, I defriend them promptly. Life is too short.

Not for me..........Any RW friends are,by MY choice, former friends...There are a few extended family nutjobs, but they are avoided at all costs.....Both due to my inability to tolerate stupid, intentional ignorance and outright crazy....

ETA:I've never been on facebook or tweeter,so I also miss all that horseshit....

Life is too short to waste on RW nutjobs (and I live in a red RW state). Where ever possible I just try to stay away the nuts .

I would rather spend my time with more liberal thinkers.

You should have seen her the day after the 2008 election. She came out looking like she had the black plague.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate her as a grandmother for my kids, and to my credit, I don't antangonize her in terms of politics, as that just wouldn't be fair. And that keeps things relatively sane and cordial between us.

But strictly in terms of politics and world view, the woman is batshit insane. I'm at her house a few Sundays ago, and I'm reading the front page of the newspaper. And there's a story on the President with an accompanying picture, and she's already taken the liberty of ripping out his face.

I mean, seriously, who does that shit? Five year olds? Eight years of George W. Bush and I never had the compulsion to do something as childish as that.

Actually, my FIL pretty much shares all her same views, but at least he has the good sense to keep it to himself at family functions. But she will just go off on rants, even when no one really wants to hear them. She'll sit there with a newspaper, and start to groan, and start reading an article with her little editorial take on it, even though no one has asked her to do so.

So I'm used to it all. And all politics aside, she's a decent person. A good mother and good grandmother. But totally certifiable when it comes to politics.

it seems to go...my suggestion to them will be to get the fuck out of the country...just like Bush did in 2002 if you're not with us, you're against us..so go fucking get out and stay out!!!! That goes for family also!!!

i plan to attend a family thanksgiving in the OC this year. all of my immediate family is dem, but my maternal aunt and her husband are raging evangelical xtian repukes who send mother lots of email garbage against obama. mother loves obama, and has told them not to send her the shit, but they persist. they are invited to the celebration this year, and it's going to be such fun to talk politics when obama wins this again!

"I've never been less enthusiastic about a Presidential election as I am this one".

As bad as McCain was, they could at least get behind him for his "straight talk" and his service and his . . . interesting, at the time, choice of running mate (I'm spitballing, obviously).

Romney is blatantly and vocally everything even they're against. If they don't see him as a flip-flopper, they see him as someone with zero direction and a mean message of throwback Bewsh-o-nomics accompanied by war-drumming. RMoney/Boy Galt is not a candidacy of the moderate or the reasoned - this is a candidacy of the Unreachables (Bigots, Dominionist males, Fauxbots and "temporarily embarrassed millionaires&quot and their numbers are fast dwindling.

It doesn't pay off. So, no, I won't be gloating with them when we win. It's the rule in my family. My friends are mainly liberals, but I have RW family members. They get one vote each. During campaign season, I unsubscribe from all of the RW family members' Facebook feeds. They don't know I'm not reading them.
