Majority of Republicans Believe 2008 Election was Stolen

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/11/poll-gop-base-thinks-obama-didnt-actually-win-2008-election----acorn-stole-it.php

"The new national poll from Public Policy Polling (D) has an astonishing number about paranoia among the GOP base: Republicans do not think President Obama actually won the 2008 election -- instead, ACORN stole it.

...

The poll asked this question: "Do you think that Barack Obama legitimately won the Presidential election last year, or do you think that ACORN stole it for him?" The overall top-line is legitimately won 62%, ACORN stole it 26%.

Among Republicans, however, only 27% say Obama actually won the race, with 52% -- an outright majority -- saying that ACORN stole it, and 21% are undecided. Among McCain voters, the breakdown is 31%-49%-20%. By comparison, independents weigh in at 72%-18%-10%, and Democrats are 86%-9%-4%.

Florida *WAS* stolen. An independent count of the votes -- you know, a full count that the GOP blocked -- DID show that Gore won the majority of the vote. And it was stolen in Ohio in 2004. http://www.commondreams.org/views06/0601-34.htm

While the GOP has boogeymen, the Democrats have actual FACTS on their side to back them up.

I wouldn't call the 2000 or 2004 elections, stolen, although there were a LOT of shenanigans by the GOP.

You can only play the game if the election is close, like in 2000.

But, there are a bunch of DUers who now see 2000 in every election. If a Democrat loses they start screaming it was stolen. The WI recall is a classic example. It wasn't close. Therefore, it wasn't stolen. Period.

Democrats sometimes lose.

If you disagree, put your money where your mouth is and step up as a poll watcher. It is boring work, but necessary. I have done it more times than I care to relate. Contact your county party and become part of the solution instead of running around with your hair on fire about stolen elections which have not even happened yet.

I am done here.

Voter fraud is minimum. Every step is overseen by bipartisan overseers. If you disagree, step up and volunteer to help out. Become a poll watcher. Or an overseer in your county's ballot count.

Then, and only then, can you claim election theft.

We all know about the ID scam. The AG's seem to be doing a credible job at roping them in. (Not everywhere, but wherever it's challenged, it is going down in flames in the courts.)

The result is a national effort to register voters and get people proper IDs. In other words, the voter ID laws just may get out more Dem votes. I have no data on this, but there is substantial activity in FL and PA in this area, as reported here on DU.

So, all calm down. Only a very close election is subject to fraud, like 2000 and 2004. This one isn't going to be close.

Stop setting your hair on fire and get to work. Then, there will be no stolen elections. Problem solved.

It's good to worry because they actually do steal elections (Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004). The idea of Acorn committing voter fraud is a figment of repug imagination spurred on by a phonied up video tape of repug dirty trickster James O'keefe masquerading as a pimp in an Acorn office. Time and again, even with all the voter ID campaigns being put forward by repug pols they haven't been able to cite anything but 1 or 2 cases of actual voter fraud to backup their claims that the IDs are necessary. It's been said that Octomom has more kids than there are voter fraud instances.
