Bonnie Franklin, the actress who played a single mom to Valerie Bertinelli and Mackenzie Phillips on the sitcom "One Day at a Time," has pancreatic cancer, it was announced Monday.
Her family said the 68-year-old is undergoing treatment and maintaining her normal schedule, according to a statement released by CBS. "She and her family remain extremely positive and thank everyone for their support and concern," it said.
"One Day at a Time" ran nine seasons, from 1975 to 1984. Franklin was nominated for two Golden Globes and one Emmy Award for her work on the show. Most recently, she's been on "Hot in Cleveland" and "The Young and the Restless."
"Sending out love and sweet prayers to my 'mom,' " Phillips tweeted Monday. "The incomparable Bonnie Franklin."
