She posted that she was a "huge supporter" in a reply to a post by one of her sisters. My reply to her;

(14,811 posts)I'm the oldest in my generation & she's the youngest. She was a baby when I went to college & moved away. She knows a couple of my sisters who stayed in the area a lot better & she really doesn't want to get on their bad side. Normally we all avoid political conversations, but she lives at the Lake of the Ozarks & I think she got some MAGA courage from the bike rally there this weekend.

(4,103 posts)You won't change her mind, but that's not what's important
It's important that you stopped coddling her and the rest of his supporters, and make it perfectly clear they are lowlife pieces of shit too for supporting him.
stopdiggin
(11,312 posts)that's it in a nutshell. They support him precisely because he is a middle finger thrust out at -- the entire world.
Don't try to over-think it. They certainly don't.

(892 posts)....ripostes I have seen to date. Asking questions as you did really puts someone on the spot and requires answers, which unfortunately most Trump cultists would simply refuse to offer.
I love how you approached this. I am very curious about her response, should you receive one!

(5,770 posts)During the campaign they proffered a variety of merchandise as the "Goldwater" this or the "Goldwater" that. My father enjoyed telling the "Goldwater sandwich" joke. One of the earliest political references I remember.

(854 posts)In too many cases, these folks world doesn't seem to extend beyond a few hundred yards beyond the space they currently inhabit. They have no concept of the world beyond their immediate sphere of occupation. The rest of the country and the world be damned as long as they get their way in that little insular bubble they live in. They assume that the rest of the country and world should have that same parochial, bumkin view of the big, wide world we live in as they do. They're scared to death of change and having to expand their horizons to encompass a greater world view beyond themselves.

(18,633 posts)That puts them on the spot because they can't admit they're racist so they usually say "he's not racist". That leaves to door open to point out things he does that are. It's not hard.

(2,008 posts)After ignoring a bunch of "pro-life" stuff, it was "4 men died alone" about Benghazi that did it. Rather than type some response about thousands dying alone due to COVID, I clicked the "..." to find some other options.

(6,179 posts)Sometimes you just have to take a stand.
A couple months ago in a conversation about Trump I told my brother-in-law, a strong Trump supporter and a good Lutheran, that Trump had no love in his heart.
He gave me a shocked look and feel silent.
He hasn't talked politics with me since.

(34,053 posts)And no one knew what the Covid was going to do or that it would have the affects it has had. And according to the CDC the numbers are wrong anyway. So many reports that were wrong.
But hey if you want to vote for someone who cannot form a thought or sentence and prefers children over someone who has actually done so much for our country in just a few short years and cleaned up Obamas and many Democrats mess then go ahead. My vote will be for Trump 100%

(5,443 posts)Note the defense "he cares for America" (really means he cares for MAGAs). Each of your original arguments in the OP actually makes a very strong case he does NOT care for America. Should just be repeated in that context.

(11,443 posts)If he cares so much about serving his country, then why was he a draft dodger during Vietnam? Why does he love dictators who are our enemies? Why did he make so many real estate and money laundering deals with Russian spies. Why were six of his campaign advisors convicted of felonies, and why did they all have close ties with Russian spies? If he cares about his country, why does he constantly lie to it's citizens? If he cares about his country, why has he taken the ACA to court to kick 25 million US citizens off their health care insurance during a health care emergency called COVID-19?
