(29,677 posts)and defaming the flag. I couldn't even have anything that looked remotely like a flag on my clothing for this reason, except for the flag patch on my Girl Scout uniform.
When did that change and why is it so wonderful to wear to flag in such a disgustingly gaudy fashion?

(8,979 posts)There are indeed women who hold those beliefs. But one things for sure -- conservatives would have a greater life expectancy (and thereby live to cast more votes) if they'd stop frequenting Chick-Fil-A and Cracker Barrel on a daily basis.

I love June. She revels in her trashiness. I hope to someday see the foot that she always keeps covered.

(29,677 posts)Have you heard about the baby? It has three thumbs.
June would proceed to smack the crap out of anyone who gets in her way. And I'm sure Glitzy would enjoy a decent meal.

(2,391 posts)I never intended to watch any of the episodes, but then got roped into watching the first in a marathon and couldn't look away. The last I saw that day was the water park episode. I've resisted since then, though. But Glitzy is my favorite.
Sorry about hotlinking the pic. I intended to include only a link to the pic. I don't know what I did wrong.

(29,677 posts)That happens sometimes.
There are no eppies of the baby yet-I saw the article online in People magazine.
I had no plans to ever watch the show until I read an article on Cracked.com about it.

(there's a pic of the three thumbed baby there)
I like when they say that, in the end, we're looking at a little girl who just wants to be a princess and a family who will do what they can to make that dream come true. They aren't pushing her over the edge to win at all costs, they aren't taking out second and third mortgages, they aren't abusing her. All they are doing is working with what they have. That's possibly one of the most sincere shows actually on tv right now.

(2,391 posts)If she didn't want to do this, I'm sure we'd hear all about it. Every single word. The child is not shy! She seems to want to be, as you said, a princess and they're helping her. I think they're playing up their more outrageous antics, but, either way, I don't see the harm. I'm not an ongoing viewer, but I don't regret the time I spent watching those few episodes.

(29,677 posts)It is television, after all.
And it's a show that, though I don't go looking for it, I will watch when it's on. I actually find myself cheering for the family, always hoping that something will go right for them.

(45,319 posts)and more. What's the sauce folks have with this? That is what the Bible teaches, just like is says 'gays are all super evil' it also says 'women need to sit down and shut up'. It is a very atavistic book. It is not 'Jebus loves puppies'.

(3,855 posts)When criticizing christian fundies I get that question a lot.
You know the one.. "Why do you defend Muslims then? they treat women way worse"
And this is true in a way. Many Muslim countries have atrocious records when it comes to women's rights.
But putting aside all the other problems with that question (like how being for religious freedom doesn't mean I'm for everything members of a particular religion do) there's another issue here.
It seems to me that the only real difference between Muslim misogyny and Christian misogyny is there are countries where Muslims can get away with it.
This guy can preach all he wants. But he's on the losing side. I want to make sure he continues to lose.
