In reference to my father's prior run-in with Mitt Romney...

...years ago when Mitt was 18.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021295770

To summarize, my father and his road commission coworkers had to drop something off at George Romney's house and they were chased away by Mitt, due to not being of sufficient worth to grace his front door.

Well, I asked him about the specifics today. Mitt's exact words to them were:

"It looks bad for you uneducated, low-paid government workers to be seen at my front door".

Those were the words that almost got his ass-kicked. And no, my father was not surprised by Mitt's "47%" remarks, "he's been pulling that shit since he was 18".

Though you might appreciate the update!

Thanks. Interesting, but no surprise that he hasn't changed. Surprise is where did he get it? Neither of his parents seem to have such attitudes.

No. They raised him. He got that attitude from somewhere. If they didn't like it, they should have nipped it in the bud.

I don't think they were such nice people.

sounds like attachment disorder among other things. His mother was nice, a mormon lady who tried to do things in an era that was not amenable. His dad fired people when running for governor and hid it. Mitt thought it was funny. They are disfunctional but I blame old dad more. Mom was a fifties and sixties ladie and you had to be one to understand the limitations on you especially in a religion that demands such subjegation and conformity of women then.

Geez. How does someone become such an insecure, shut down asshole like that? Believe me, I've met and worked with lots of millionaires in my lifetime, and I can't imagine any of them EVER saying anything like that.

Was Mitt's father a jerk as well? Seems to me that this behavior is learned.

There was a huge article on Romney and what he was like in prep school. One girl remembered that when Romney met a potential girlfriend, he asked her who she was and who her father was. He was trying to figure out if she was "someone." When her answer made it clear that she was not the daughter of anyone notable, the girl remembered Romney become completely disinterested in her--as if he had no desire to bother with anyone who didn't have a pedigree that was up to his standards.

Makes sense that he ended up with Ann Romney. She came from wealthy, well-known people. If Ann Romney had been the daughter of a person who successful (a doctor, a lawyer, etc.), Mitt Romney wouldn't have given her the time of day. Isn't that amazing?

These people are reptilian. Not all rich people are like this. But some rich people who are also very narcissistic and boorish are like this.

Sick and disgusting that we have someone like this running for President. Palin's nonsense was bad enough last year, now we have to endure more vacuous tripe from Romney for the next six weeks.

Mitt's dad ran American Motors in the early 60s, and apparently did a very good job of it. Made the company profitable and debt free while also introducing the auto industry's first profit-sharing plan for his employees.

Like I said before, I can't prove it and he can't prove it, but I've no reason to think my father's lying. Interestingly, at the time he was just out of high school and was an "uneducated, low-paid, government worker" so he didn't really even take offense. Later, he just realized Mitt was a dick, which there are innumerable better examples of (such as Mitt's own more damning 47% comments).
