Trump's walk-on music tonight is Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American."
I spent 2003 at Ft. Polk, LA as National Guard and Reserve troops were processed for shipment to Iraq. At every "departure ceremony," as these soldiers were sent off to fight a war that was premised on a lie, "Proud to be an American" boomed from the loud speakers.
For me, this particular bit of patriotic claptrap is the theme song for a stupid war.

(4,358 posts)I just asked myself "what song would a draft dodging con man who took help from a foreign government to cheat in his last election and looked the other way while Russia paid bounties on US troops want blasting as he walked out onto a stage surrounded by non-mask wearing, non-social distancing disease vectors"? And yep, that's the one.
