General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI distinctly remember that when I was seventeen...
My biggest interests were school activities, girls, books, my art, partying and music. I had never considered to cross state lines with a semi-auto carbine to shoot people in the street.
Had I, most people, including myself, would have considered such a, then unthinkable, act quite insane.
These are dangerous times.

I dont understand why there is no law against carrying weapons in such circumstances, even if we have to accept gunz at home.
Who wears gloves and carries a rifle to protests that isnt looking for a reason to kill someone?

(206,247 posts)We had access to guns, but nobody - not even once - ever even mentioned or thought of turning one of them on another human being. We practiced for the next competition, then they were locked up again. There was never an incident - and we were normal teenagers with the issues that are common to that age group. But these days there is no longer a rifle team at my former school and I'm grateful. Nobody needs to own a gun, especially now. Times have changed.

But as I got older beer and mainly girls took over my interest.

(111,367 posts)No, these gun nuts aren't "friendlies," no matter how much they suck up and how blue their shirts are. They're wannabes, vigilantes, and that makes them some of the most dangerous men in the country.
Wake up, guys.

(9,952 posts)condoning and reinforcing this idea. The hardest part is my youngest looks so much like him at that age in movement, looks, baby fat, they way he walks and maybe why I am more pissed than anything but the adults around him did not serve him well and his life should be over.

In a photograph posted by his mother, he is wearing what appears to be a blue law enforcement uniform as well as the kind of brimmed hat that state troopers wear.

"In January 2017, his mother sought an order of protection, accusing one of Rittenhouse's classmates of bullying her son with taunts of being "dumb" and "stupid," as well as threatening to hurt him".

I wonder why the cops young Kyle was chatting up didn't enforce the gun laws that are clearly on the books.

Where the hell does a 17 year old get the money for an assault weapon and ammo?
It was reported that mom bought him the gun and drove him to the event. If true, she should be arrested as being complicit or an accessory. If true, not much can be said for a parent who gives them the money for an assault weapon, and drives him to a demonstration with the gun........
It is gonna get a lot worse, with the RepubliCONs, Trump and the police egging them on................

I'm just surprised the kid wasn't given a space with Nick Sandmann in front of the Lincoln Memorial, speaking about what this country means to them.
Kyle Rittenhouse is more like Dylann Roof than Adam Lanza (Sandy Hook) and Eric Harris & Dyland Klebold (Columbine) who were more indiscriminate in their murder sprees.
