Employers and employees each pay 6.2 percent of wages up to the taxable maximum of $137,700 (in 2020). This is about corporations bowing out of paying their fair share. Corporations are just fine with employees funding their own retirements. Wall St will be happy to sell us some retirement product from which they'll charge a stiff management fee. This is about corporations maximizing profits and socializing costs.
