(26,336 posts)So, when I'm not sneezing and blowing my nose, I'm crying and blowing my nose. Sometimes I'm doing at 3, at once.

(12,265 posts)Kids were so mean to her. She was smart, she was beautiful and had a heart of gold, but the bullies just kept beating on her with insults. The "cool girls" "cheerleader types" were the worst. I defended her every time I saw it but it really began to take a toll on her. Then she had a wonderful English teacher who took her under her wing and helped her so much.
She went on to college and then to Medical School where she became an amazing pediatrician. We lost her a few years ago to cancer, but not until after she showed up at our small town class reunion in an S Class Mercedes and a handsome successful husband. I loved it!!!! She only came that one time, but it was classic. Watching those mean girls, who married boys from home and never went to college have to see what happened to this object of their bullying was such fun. We had a great laugh over a nice glass of wine afterwards.
Rest in peace Margaret, I'm sure you would have loved watching this brave little boy!

(42,009 posts)He was a brilliant man, we just couldnt be married for many reasons. But being with him, feeling myself tighten when he tightened, sometimes doing things like ordering at restaurants when he just didnt want to go through the stares and embarrassment others felt, and that damned phone! I know all Joes tricks and tells, the hard consonants he avoids, the introductory phrases, the wraparounds when he knows a word is coming up that will challenge him. People who go out in public and make the kind of effort we who dont stutter never even think of are absolutely amazing. What Joe did for Brayden and what the two of them are doing for others is downright noble.

(12,265 posts)Annie Glenn, John Glenn's wife had a horrible stutter too. She was always an advocate for people who stuttered.

(47,778 posts)Try reading Joe's book, Promises to Keep. A lot of the time I couldn't even see the page, I was crying so hard. I have his other book, Promise Me Dad, but I just can't bring myself to start reading it yet. I know I'll be bawling for days.

(992 posts)The thought just popped into my head----does this country even deserve a wonderful person like Joe Biden?
Our nation treated the Obamas terribly.....and the Carters.

(10,131 posts)The rest of the America is going to find out what some of America already knows: this is an exceptionally good, caring man.
Jimmy Carter proved that he may well have aged but being an exceptionally good, caring man never gets old.

(14,608 posts)It's going to be so refreshing to have a guy like this back in the Oval Office. That's pretty genuine. Nothing fake or political about that - Biden really cares.

(11,686 posts)I have a friend who is autistic and has a slight stutter. He is absolutely brilliant. We rarely see each other but he is able to remember word for word we had in any conversation we had 30 years ago.
