I am hoping they hold back as it's the right thing to do, but I fear they want the protracted legal fight for ratings and will call states based on the limited vote count.

(22,912 posts)Or Ohio, or any other significant state he won in 2016. It won't matter at that point if official calls can't be made in states that largely voted absentee. The handwriting would be starkly written on the wall st that point.
Does anyone know which states start legally counting mail in votes received prior to election day rather than having to wait until the morning of election day in order to start counting them? New York State, where I live, can't begin counting absentee votes until 7:00 AM on election day, and so the mail in vote totals are delayed by days if not weeks. Some states however release the tallies of early mail in votes while continuing to count those that came in on or after election day (according to their cut off date).
If enough states where early mail in votes totals can be reported on election night swing to Biden, all of Trump's protests will ring totally hollow.

(22,912 posts)If Biden is leading in NC based on the combined total of election day vote and early mail in vote count totals, that I believe would sink Trump's conspiracy arguments. I am assuming that the vast majority of mail in votes will be tabulated and released election day night in NC if it allows early counting of absentee ballots. At that point there is no credible logic to argue that mail in votes that came in just under the wire would look any different than ones that came in days earlier because of alleged "fraud".
