Great news in Orlando! The new State Attorney is kicking out the good ole boys!

At least, that's my take on the situation:

State Attorney elect Ashton sends no-hire letters to 11

Eleven members of the Orange-Osceola State Attorney's Office have been informed they will not keep their jobs when Jeff Ashton takes over in January, and several other current top officials are not expected to return.

In addition to those not invited back, Ashton has also notified the current administration, headed by longtime officeholder Lawson Lamar, that four others — including Lamar's top lieutenants William Vose and Randy Means, as well as Intake Bureau Chief Steve Foster — "will be voluntarily separating from the agency prior to my taking office."

In letters sent to the 11 employees who will be let go, Ashton explains that "my vision for the office of the State Attorney of the Ninth Judicial Circuit differs a great deal from Mr. Lamar's."

"After a thorough review of your employment history, as reflected in your personnel file combined with my own personal familiarity with your work history, I have concluded that I will not be offering you employment with my administration," Ashton writes. "Therefore your employment as an Assistant State Attorney will terminate with Mr. Lamar's tenure as State Attorney."

It's Florida. Chances are that you've already got the equivalent, and they are deeply entrenched. porphyrian Sep 2012 #3

Changes in government tend to move at a glacial speed, except in the rare occasions that they happen quickly. We may see quick changes over the next two elections. Make sure you and everyone around you votes.

I have been running around with my hair on fire trying to tell them about the corruption in my town. But, I guess they had a good laugh over drinks at my expense.

We just don't need more of them, because the new guys will walk in with the desire to make their bones.
