How many people got mail yesterday?
The number of people convincing themselves (and others) that the post office is going to collapse is scary...

Im requesting my ballot early and mailing it if I can find and figure out how to operate a drop box. (A Washington Post article today basically said people are too stupid to fin and figure out how to use a drop box.)

(5,170 posts)I get mail every day -- once in a while I'll get nothing, but, on average I get mail 11 of every 12 days (I don't count Sundays because there is no delivery on Sundays).

(115,672 posts)But that's not altogether unusual, since most of what I get is just ads. I haven't noticed a slowdown, and the primary ballot I mailed in on Friday was noted as accepted on the 4th. However, I'll hand-deliver my GE ballot just to be on the safe side.

(8,767 posts)The immediate problem with the Post Office is that because of CV19 the nation is looking at a preponderance of mail in voting. Concurrent to the impending mail in election, Trump has installed a political lackey as Post Master General. Th appointed individual is in experienced, Trumply partisan, and is not committed to the Postal Service as set out in the Constitution and the lifelong expectations of most Americans.
A systematic problem is that the Post Office has been hobbled by the requirement to pre-fund retirement of employees for 75 years (check me if specifically wrong) and other policies taken to weaken the institution. Why? So as the functions of the Post Office can be privatized, a long term goal of those with the aim to extract personal wealth from the public commons.
The US Post Office is the most at risk of any time in its existence and is specifically important to the impending Fall election.

(16,616 posts)Not even the Wednesday Safeway ad circular I usually get on Wednesdays. Could it be a coincidence? Maybe. Some mathematically-inclined DUer could possibly figure out the odds of that. (The mail hasn't come yet today, it's only nine AM here).
