The Simpsons lampoons GOP-backed voter ID laws

In a preview of its season premiere, the animated comedy The Simpsons released a snippet of an episode in which Homer is forced to deal with the new voter ID laws being implemented around the country.

Upon arriving at his polling place on Election Day, Homer is told he must present a photo identification before he can vote.

“But I’ve lived here all my life,” Homer complains.

“Stopping all Americans from voting is for the protection of all Americans,” the poll worker informs him.

But after Homer explains to the poll worker that he was just a “40-year-old white guy who didn’t go to college and gets all his news from monitors at gas stations,” he was allowed to proceed to the voting booth.

Once inside the voting booth, Homer casts his ballot for Mitt Romney, because “he invented Obamacare” — only to discover that Romney had a medical deduction for a personality implant, had six wives named Ann, and the government paid him taxes for five years.
