Since the Atty General of New York is dissolving the NRA, how is this going to affect

the ballot box Nov 3rd? Will repugs double down on their "they're gonna take your guns"
rhetoric possibly influencing independents? One thing I've always thought was if Democrats
would say they were 2nd amendment supporters, we could take away one big repug
talking point. We could also talk about enhanced background checks that would only
piss off the deplorables who would never vote for a Democrat anyway. Isn't it around 80%
of NRA members who want better background checks, but McTurtle won't even vote on it?

Only the hardest core MAGAts who wouldn't vote for a Democrat anyhow would be OK with that.

left the NRA years ago when they became so political. I agree that only the diehard trump cultists will get upset, and like you said, the would never vote for a Democrat anyway.

Seems like a lot of "concerned" people posting this talking point today!

If the proposal is, "Wayne LaPierre is entitled to take contributions to a non-profit organization and spend it lavishly on his own comfort," I'd rather take the "against" side.

It's actually a bit strange. With the protests and everything, you would have thought they'd be going on like gangbusters.

But they're super quiet. Meek even.

I think the Russian thing just kind of wrecked them.

hard to believe trump and the repugs are going to go big for "gun culture" this election without their dollar bills thrown at them.

In 2016, the NRA spent more than $30 million on behalf of the Trump campaign, according to Federal Election Commission data. It was a staggering number compared to 2012, when the group spent about $13 million to try to unseat President Barack Obama and elect Mitt Romney. The Trump campaign represented the lion's share of the group's spending—the NRA spent $54 million on the 2016 elections in total.

It is true that gun owners have a lot of clout, but not through the NRA.

There are issues. i.e. the environment and there are Passion issues i.e. take my gun away. Someone can agree with you on 9 out of 10 issues but will vote against you on the one passion issue. The art of politics is to hold down you opposition by avoiding passion issues you are against and stimulate your base with passion issues you are for. We are stimulating the oppositions passion issue. Not good.

Hopefully they will go back their roots gun and hunter safety and stay out of christofascist extremist lobbying, whoring themselves to gun manufacturers, and promoting international gun running.
