(9,234 posts)Long Arm statute? She cant avoid service by leaving the state. Most statutes allow service on the Secretary of State, and the certified mail to the defendant out of state.

(32,136 posts)Moving from one state to another does not prevent the serving of lawsuits. So that part of the story is bogus. Most doctors get sued for malpractice. It is why mal insurance is sky high.

Coronavirus-related liability protections were a top priority for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as well as hospitals. The bill would broadly shield hospitals and medical professionals from malpractice lawsuits around Covid-19, while capping damages. Hospital groups say legal risks have been a major barrier to resuming elective surgeries.

(26,320 posts)They won't open these reports to the public, but they contain not only verifications of physician training, but also any liability issues, past, present, pending, dismissed and paid, along with any sanctions and dismissals from hospitals.
The NPDB was one of the most critical documents I used for reviewing physician's fitness for initial and re-credentialing with our health plan. And the scariest. Which is probably why they won't open them to the public.
