Be sure the American people know that one of the provisions Republicans were most resistant to was helping individuals pay their bills, buy food, and stay in their homes.

..... they would then have the Dems over a barrel to sign a new deal post haste.

That ain't going to happen. The Rethugs will be blamed for having let these protections expire. No one is protected. The economy suffers additional massive devastating hits. And finally the mishandling of every facet of the virus pandemic by team trDump becomes additionally more painfully apparent.

in the Senate without D help.

If he went with the House bill, he would start with 47 yea votes and need only 4 R votes to pass. He won’t get a single D or Indie vote for any R bill, and he probably can’t get 30 R votes on anything he proposes. He needs 51.
