Texas confirms four cases of inflammatory illness linked to COVID-19 in children
MIS-C is a condition where different body parts can become inflamed, including the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, skin, eyes, or gastrointestinal organs, according to the CDC.
Most kids who get COVID-19 only have mild symptoms.
However, in rare cases, the virus has been linked to a life-threatening illness called multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, or MIS-C.
Two recent studies are showing how its’ connected to the coronavirus. One study looked at 99 cases in New York.

As parents nationwide wonder if it’s safe to send kids back to day care, Texas is grappling with a surge of COVID-19 cases from child care centers.
At least 1,335 people have tested positive from child care facilities in Texas, the state’s Department of Health and Human Services reported Monday, citing figures from Friday.

When asked about the safety of Texas students and teachers returning to classrooms, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) appeared to question whether children can catch and transmit the new coronavirus, but data provided by doctors and government websites contradict his statement.
"We still don’t know whether children can get it and transmit it to others," Cornyn said in an interview Thursday with NBC 5.
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, more than 1,700 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in people ages 0-19 statewide.
