I said "game, set, match", much like the photo of the terrified naked girl in Vietnam fleeing a napalm bombing, was game set match for the direction of that war.
Saturday night in Omaha was a bizarre entrapment of a group of about 120 on a bridge over the interstate, where they were all arrested (rather than ticketed). The group formed up by the WW I memorial in Omaha, marched downtown and then were to return to that location, where their cars were parked. Unknown at the time, a fleet of 20 police vehicles were parked nearby in a Mutual of Omaha parking lot. When the group headed east they crossed the interstate bridge before continuing downtown, reversed direction and while they were downtown the police moved into position at the interstate bridge that was only about 3 blocks from where the protesters cars were parked.
The link below is the full protest and is something like 3 hours long. It shows an uneventful march with police support to keep traffic away from the protesters, including at the interstate bridge. But this time those cars were moved to block off both ends of the bridge while other police officers emerged from their ambush, sealing off the bridge on both ends, with no avenue for escape. The protest leader and one other were singled out with the police firing pepper rounds from close range, then they gang tackled him on the hard cement, causing a bloody nose. He looked like he had chicken pox from the pepper rounds. It took them 18 hours to get everyone booked, bonds collected and released. It was as much as 10 hours between bonds being paid and eventual release. While the police violence was pretty much limited to these two individuals it was a completely unwarranted police roundup and mass arrest. With this video, it is hard to see how charges won't be dropped. The Mayor and Chief of Police have much to answer to for this stupid mass arrest. Who are the terrorists?
