David Harts plea is simple following the death of his husband of 28 years: Wear a mask!
Hart is mourning the loss of Dr. Joseph Costa, who for months had been battling covid-19 on the front lines as chief of the critical care division at Baltimores Mercy Medical Center. He died on Saturday after contracting the virus himself, reports the Baltimore Sun.
Those who cared for Joe were his best friends, Hart told the paper.
In a statement, Mercy Medical Center praised Costas commitment to his patients:
Joe was more than a trusted colleague; he was also a true friend to many. He dedicated his life and career to caring for the sickest patients. And when the global pandemic came down upon us, Joe selflessly continued his work on the front lines deeply committed to serving our patients and our City during this time of great need.

(7,947 posts)or at least no one is dying, or they're actually dying in car accidents and it's being called Covid-19.
And I keep saying, really? You think all those doctors and nurses are lying?
They believe Trump over the truth.
This is so sad. I am going to post this about Dr. Costas to them and defy them to say that he didn't actually die.

(9,659 posts)Actually woke up thinking about him this morning. How many people died who didn't have to? How many doctors and nurses are giving their lives to save the rest of us?
This is beyond heartbreaking.
And the person responsible? He has no feelings, so he has no idea what it's like to lose a loved one.
For Dr. Costa.
I hope that his husband and loved ones can find some peace someday. I don't know how that will happen when you consider how and why the doctor died.

(51,794 posts)Trump is absolutely responsible for those deaths. Virtually all of our allies handled this pandemic much better than Trump did. South Korea had their first confirmed case the same day we had ours: January 20. And they were hit hard. But their president didn't engage in magical thinking that it would just go away on its own. South Korea followed their epidemiologists' advice. They were thus able to control the outbreak without shutting down their economy, without closing factories and restaurants. How? By immediately instituting mass testing, contacting tracing and targeted quarantining of the ill. And universal mask wearing. It's not rocket science. https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2020/03/26/821688981/how-south-korea-reigned-in-the-outbreak-without-shutting-everything-down
Not only did their testing program save their economy, it saved South Koreans' lives. They've lost only 300 people to date. We've lost 150,000, and we're still losing thousands every few days. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/coronavirus/
Granted we have 6.5 times the population of South Korea, but if we had done what they did, we'd have lost only about 6.5×300 or about 1,950 people, and our economy would not be in tatters. But Trump is still engaged in magical thinking, pushing hydroxychloroquine, and still has no national plan, nor has he invoked the Defense Production Act to produce the test kits and PPE we desperately need.
Trump will continue killing Americans by the thousands until we get him out of the White House.
