---why in hell did he allow Jordan to violate both his allotted time period AND THE ADOPTED POLICIES OF THE COMMITTEE regarding audio-visual exhibits!?!? Specifically, after Jordan's entire 10 minute or so selectively edited video was played, Nadler announced that Jordan had not provided the "required" (really?) 48 hour advance notice!
Jordan just pissed on you, Mr. Nadler, and you have responded with "tsk-tsk"!

(25,294 posts)just ask for 'forgiveness' after you break the rules. You know the insincere/I pulled one over on you kind.

(25,990 posts)Repubs roll over him far too easily, they know they can get away with it, and Nadler's pushback is always too little too late. Love the guy, but he doesn't enforce the rules strongly enough.

(15,124 posts)engage in a "screaming match" with him is pretty short-sighted. He could have simply interrupted---as the chair responsible for enforcing rules---and declined to permit the video without the required 48 hour notice. Had Jordan started screaming, he could have silenced his mikd or ordered him removed.
Hard-nosed? You damn betcha! Exactly what Jordan's smarmy nonsense call for.

(7,874 posts)the Dems are prepared for this...the optics speak for themselves...GOP grandstanding...that's all they've got...Barr looks like a schoolyard bully...we all knew he was going to lie, claim executive privilege, sneer, gaslight, parse, bullshit...this plays to the orange maggot's base...that's about it...the GOP owns this shit show...

(15,124 posts)"average citizen", however, Jordan was "strong" and Nadler got rolled. At some level, people simply respect strength. Like George W. Bush, they just "don't do nuance".

(7,874 posts)political junkies like you and me...Trump's base...very few...Jordan was loud, caustic and over the top but not strong...and admit it ..Barr looks small and angry...he's got all those buffoons screeching and huffing and buffing but do you hear a defense?......and while he's in the "hot seat" he's being slammed on social media and 24/7 new channels...and the fat bastard couldn't hold his bladder for more than an hour...like I said Nadler is doing ok...btw...did you hear Steve Cohen?

(7,874 posts)this is what Nadler and our guys want ...Gym the snarling hyena and an angry spittled Barr trapped in the hot seat about to pee his pants....ok Gym you've had your screaming shit show...time to sit down and shut up...the grown ups have taken the floor
Atticus
(15,124 posts)for a very long time", but I---respectfully---disagree that "this is what Nadler wants". It is what he allows.

(7,874 posts)this is not an unexpected outcome..this is the GOP playbook...the committee has read it and we've read it...Jordan screams, Collins calls Nadler's legitimacy as chair into question and the show goes on...

(7,874 posts)our guys are doing what they should have done in previous hearings...yes or no questions, and the follow-up "tell me, dude, were you asleep in law school when the prof covered legal versus criminal... and that Constitution thing, did you read it?"...and then shutting Barr up in mid lie...
always play nice with the effers! That's the biggest problem, giving them free reign.

Seriously, could we have a few hard asses who would enforce rules with even a tenth of the ardor they are enforced by the GOP when they run the table.

(1,648 posts)Jordan and all of the Republicans there would have thrown a tantrum and escalated a pathetic excuse to disrupt and shut down the Hearing, with Wild Billy Barr throwing his hands up and saying I don't have time for all of these nonsense games as he walked out.
Wild Billy Barr would have come off like a 'noble' servant just trying to do his job, while being disrupted by Congress. Don't think for one minute that Republicans don't get together with tRUMP's henchmen to bait the Democratic Party into shooting themselves in the foot.
