RICHMOND, Va. Riots in downtown Richmond over the weekend were instigated by white supremacists under the guise of Black Lives Matter, according to law enforcement officials.
Protesters tore down police tape and pushed forward toward Richmond police headquarters, where they set a city dump truck on fire.
Police declared the event an unlawful assembly and ordered people to leave, later deploying tear gas.
Six people were arrested. The mayor of Richmond thanked the Black Lives Matter protesters he said tried to stop the white supremacists from spearheading the violence.
Their mission is simple, not the Richmond we know, said Mayor Levar Stoney.

The fact is we're leading, by a lot. I'm not going to say it's in the bag, but we are in a good position, much better than we were in 2016. And I'm not sure what the doomsaying had to do with a post about white supremacists starting a riot.

(5,770 posts)It is statutorily set as "the Tuesday next after the first Monday in the month of November" equalling "the first Tuesday after November 1"
By 1792, federal law permitted each state to choose Presidential electors any time within a 34-day period before the first Wednesday in December.
Development of the Morse electric telegraph, funded by Congress in 1843 and successfully tested in 1844, was a technological change that clearly augured an imminent future of instant communication nationwide. To prevent information from one state from influencing Presidential electoral outcomes in another, Congress responded in 1845 by mandating a uniform national date for choosing Presidential electors.

(21,433 posts)to an NPR program. They are discussing possible scenarios with members of the Transition Integrity Project, which is a group of people who have held high level positions in government and/or militsry. One of the guest speakers is a colonel. The discussion is about how the nation would handle it if Trump refuses to go. They have considered various scenarios and how agencies and individuals in government would deal with that possibility, which they take as a very real and serious one.
It seems that this group, who are more experienced and knowledgeable than most people, including me, are not so casual or confident about the outcome of the election and how it will be handled. They anticipate the possibility of voter disruption, intimidation of poll workers, interference with mail in ballots, a rigged outcome or a refusal of Trump to acknowledge losing. They are saying it is naive to think that the election and possible need for removal of Trump would proceed smoothly without a hitch.

According to this source, the election cant be postponed but THIS can happen, something Thom Harmann warned about...If it goes to the 12th then EACH STATE has ONE VOTE, guess what that means!
So I WAS WRONG about postponing, I had read an article by Frum about how he could do that, but lets assume he cant, but THIS can happen and while traitor himself has no clue about any of this stuff, barr (traitor #2) will know about this stuff.
The reason I say these things is the same reason I YELLED AT PEOPLE in 2016 anywhere I could NOT to BASH Hillary so this wouldnt happen, but that didnt work either.
AS I have been saying everywhere including social media, EVERYBODY go home and STAY there until Nov 3, do NOT give the traitors a reason for states to not be able to certify their election results so the 12th doesnt come into play. If we have any election or constitutional experts here they will confirm the nightmare this could be if enough states allege they cant certify their results due to protests or civil unrest.

The election happens, red states CLAIM that due to the virus or civil unrest they cant certify their results, if enough of them do this (and here is where an expert needs to explain it) then the 12th can kick in, if it does, party over, they steal it again.

(22,114 posts)way beyond reality (look at how they pushed off the protesters away from the Wash. DC church so rump could hold up his bible (of course upside down) to make his stupid 'law and order' statement. I am worried that this administration will use / magnify any 'protests' or manufacture one for their illegal purposes so they can come up w/ some excuse to do something, such as impose martial law or worse (if there is anything worse than this). If I were smart, I would be lining up lawyers by the dozens, people in the know, bail money (if bail is even available) to get people out of jail, etc., for 'minor' offenses, etc.
I am very nervous w/ this administration and the willingness to engage in 'funny business' to do what they in truth want to do, but want to appear 'legitimate' in doing so. However, I do think that embedded journalists, the thousands of cell phone videos that are constantly recording stuff 24x7, etc. is going to make doing such things harder by this administration.
Still, I don't trust this administration nor trump one bit. Not one solitary bit. I don't think anyone does anymore.

(7,627 posts)The electoral votes received by Congress are counted in a joint session at 1 p.m. on January 6. If a presidential or vice presidential candidate does not receive a majority of the electoral votes, the House selects the next president and the Senate selects the next vice president.
Amongst those states that would return the electoral votes, the candidate who has the majority wins. That would obviously be Biden since the red states not returning their EV would penalize Trump.
BidenMyTime
(6 posts)There are more red states than blue states, so even though the Dems control the House, Trump would certainly be re-elected.
Scary but let's hope it doesn't come to that.
drray23
(7,627 posts)What I quoted is what happens. They first meet and take note of the certified EV that were received by the deadline. If there is a winner than that its. If there is a tie then they would do what you say and that would be the next step.

(21,433 posts)Trump is making a show of force in American cities. It gives his thugs an opportunity to instigate violence that Trump can blame on protesters, claiming that they sre a threat to the nation that he needs to save us from. Nixon tried the same thing with anti war protesters (minus the armed troops) by putting agents at the protests to instigate violence.

(7,217 posts)Remember back in April of 2009, when Republicans went all "Hulk-Smash" on a Dept. of Homeland Security report that warned that:
...rightwing extremists may be gaining new recruits by playing on their fears about several emergent issues.
One of those "issues" being "That man!" in a very White House.
That predicted the:
...emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks...the most dangerous domestic terrorism threat in the United States.
The Reich-wing's Noise and Rage Machine went into overdrive with John Boehner wondering why the term terrorist was used to describe American citizens, and demanded the Secretary of Homeland Security apologize. Remember the Reich-wing's rage screaming the report was:
"...a sweeping indictment of conservatives... that there was no evidence that an unquantified resurgence in rightwing extremist recruitment and radicalizations activity" was occurring - at all.
Oops!!
This is why we can't have nice things.
