He made a lot of pledges at the beginning... And then he just decided not to, said Rebecca Katz, a progressive Democratic strategist.
Mike Bloombergs presidential effort redefined campaign lavishness, a billion-dollar behemoth that for a time put the former New York City mayor at the center of the primary conversation until it became clear that many Democrats didnt want to vote for him.
But after all that extravagance, the TV advertising blitzes, the free campaign memorabilia and outlandish social media ploys to try and boost his own political fortune, Bloomberg has yet to publicly do the same for the Democratic nominee.
After having pledged to help defeat President Donald Trump, Bloomberg has been largely a nonentity on the general election landscape considering his massive primary season spending, according to campaign finance records ending in May. And a Bloomberg spokesperson did not provide an answer on how much more the 78-year-old is willing to spend to boost Biden when responding to a request for comment this week.

Too hard to figure out?
Who knows, maybe he'll change his mind? Maybe we need to stop looking for real or imagined billionaires to save us.

(29,674 posts)He plans to supplement Biden as need with his real support going towards House, Senate and governors races. His focus is on maintaining the House, turning the Senate and grabbing large state races. Since some states still have primaries the spending isn't there at this time.
In my state, Missouri, our gubernatorial primary is August 4. New polls are out showing Galloway and Parson at a statistical tie. I can see some airtime paid out by Bloomberg in Galloway's favor once she's declared the official Dem candidate. (I'd live to see some spending for Elad Gross, Yinka Faleti and Lindsey Simmons but polling isn't out there yet.)
I can see him spending on Kelly, McGrath and possibly Harrison. There are plenty of House races to endorse.

(36,462 posts)Judicial nominees will come to a halt. Any bills that can fix the Con's disasters will stack up on McConnell's desk like they are stacking up now. We'll be able to stop the sledge hammer, but the GOP will keep us from treating the patient. And the media will harp on why the dems can't make everything bright and shiny again. We're living that Lucy/Charlie Brown cartoon over & over.
