(15,805 posts)This whole sordid mess isn't just about the
actions the federal forces against protesters who have a constitutional right the first amendment guarantees of freedom of speech.
The focus of any objection should be squarely placed on Trump. He ordered their deployment and approved of their hidden identities and the extrajudicial kidnappings of random citizens. Trump authorized the use of violence tactics, chemical weapons and nonlethal projectiles.
None of this would have occurred without Trump's OK. However, the Dems don't have the power to stop him outright, but the courts can. The ACLU has already prevailed in at least one case, so it the goal is to compel Trump to withdraw his goon squads, then call for more legal action where we stand a chance of being successful.

(15,805 posts)The violence they see on TV is eye candy to them and they can't get enough if it. Don't be fooled, the rightwing base wants to see their politicians support military style assaults on American citizens... At least those of the Democratic variety.
It won't matter if House Republicans vote for increased federal action against protesters, that's a badge of patriotism in their mind. That isn't of any value to democrats who aren't very likely to be voting for a Republican ticket anyway. Pointing out that a Republican politician is pro military and police, and anti-Democratic,
is like preaching to the choir, it gets us nothing. We have nothing to gain by any such vote.

(16,720 posts)I'm wondering about the supposed 18 that were arrested? Sure would like to see them come forward, so ACLU could possibly get involved. We have to figure out a way to identify WHO these CREEPS are!
