The Army is helping the state in case it needs to quickly build out more surge capacity at its hospitals.
Potential bidders have to be able to build a temporary hospital unit with 10 days notice.
The Department of Defense is canvassing Florida for potential contractors and locations to set up emergency mobile hospitals to treat coronavirus patients across the state, according to a contract notice posted by the Army Corps of Engineers.
The Army is helping the state in case it needs to quickly build out more surge capacity at its hospitals as Covid-19 cases continue to rise, seeking contractors who can build temporary facilities with 10 days notice. The state doesnt know how many facilities will be needed or where, but officials want to get an idea of how quickly they could build out surge hospital capacity, just in case, according to the notice.
The state is putting out a blanket call to solicit and purchase any number of these facilities needed necessary to meet the States need, according to the notice that was posted online Tuesday.

(58,785 posts)isolating since we're retired without dependents, but we're high risk and need hospital-level care available to us.
This is NY's Javits Center turned into a 1000-bed temporary field hospital. It was supposed to be filled with flowers for the World Floral Expo when this was taken. Dismantled and in some other city now.
I was hospitalized with a surprise, first-ever pneumonia come out of nowhere at the beginning of June, and if those beds look newly reassuring to me, how do they look to those with more chronic problems and those who love them?

If you really feel for the people of Florida, please express it by expecting proper care for us. Insisting and expecting little good from it for us does us no good at all.
Very much to the contrary.
