Over the past 90 years there have been 4 major economic disasters that destroyed millions of Americans lives. All 4 times there was a Republican in the white house.
Hoover-1929
Reagan-1987
Bush-2008
Trump- 2020
I do not understand why the Democrats do not use this historical fact in every campaign, every election. They should pound the Republicans with this fact. It cannot be defended.
The Republican party is the party of economical destruction. It is a historical fact.

(2,947 posts)Look at the Lincoln Project ads. Ten times better than any Democratic ad.
Democrats always want to be positive and play nice. Those days are over because the republican party has become out-and-out fascistic with no concern for the betterment of the country. Republicans seek only to obtain more wealth and power.

(2,255 posts)Is it fair to say that in the last 50 years, a Democrat president was elected to clean-up Republican messes that left America economically, diplomatically and cuturally in the hole?
To the rescue to climb out:
Carter.
Clinton.
Obama.

It should be played to death in ads.

(24,365 posts)a Democratic President fixed it. Every time. And we let them get away with saying they were going to make America great again. All while they have been proven to be pros at doing just the opposite.

The stock market crash was in 1987, but that didn't tank the economy.

Look at all the graphs-- GDP up, unemployment OK, etc.

Furthermore, during the 70's Ford, Carter and Reagan's first two years were saddled with mediocre to worse economic conditions, before Carter appointed Volcker to break the back of stagflation (raising the prime rate resulted in a recession and double digit interest rates) after 3 years. However, even 1979-82 was not as bad as 1929-30, 2008-9 and now.
