We asked that question in 2016. Now, we know.
The biggest problem, in my view, is that 37% of American voters still think, if think is indeed the correct word, that Trump is competent, intelligent, and doing the correct thing.
We can micro-analyze this 37%, and say that with 43% not voting in 2016, the 37% is actually about 16%, but even 16% means 1 out of 6 random voters likes Trump.
But we have 2 huge challenges ahead of us.
1) We must produce a blu-nami and return control of the Senate, House, and Presidency to the Party of sanity.
2) Repair the damage caused by the GOP.

(3,722 posts)though the worst is likely still ahead of us. I'm convinced republicans are going to pull a bullshit ploy where trump loses big, declares the election rigged due to mail in ballots, and state GOP legislators are going to block certification of the results in the key swing states, and trump will refuse to leave office and revel in the chaos he relishes.
I'd almost bet on it happening at this point.

(12,806 posts)... way too many other people don't vote. So 16% of voters can impact the results as if they were 37% -- more than double the influence they SHOULD have.

(42,641 posts)we have a few purists who insist on only voting for "the perfect candidate".
But yes, older right wing voters vote. The election only counts votes, not opinion polls.

They are felons.
