(253 posts)I definitely found that the mention of his god to be interesting coming from a man who just called a colleague a f-ing bitch.

(6,448 posts)Is Yoho your given family name or is it what "Yo Momma" answers to?
Oh, was that disrespectful? Are your feelings hurt?
Then try to remember that when addressing another member of Congress, you slimy, ignorant, sexist prick. Don't forget that the same people who hired you can fire you. Especially if you continue to embarrass your district.
Sincerely,
Someone else who loves God

(15,392 posts)But I'm old-fashioned enough (mainly just old) to say that if someone like Yoho who was more than likely raised more old-fashionedly than I was can't say something simple like, "What I did was wrong, and I apologize," and maybe actually address AOC by name, then he's not a man.

(38,187 posts)We need to hold these losers accountable and make them pay like they would overbearingly and domineeringly hold us accountable for the simplest of things. Seriously, the Democratic Party, if we get the majority, need to go after them like they go after us. The difference will be that they need someone to stop them from their extremist hate and their corruption. Usually, Democrats get raked over the coals for sex or something else minor and simple. The Republicans get away with all kinds of really horrid crap, because we never hold them accountable.
No excuses. Apology not accepted. Fuck you, Republicans. I'm sick of your holier than thou stone throwing from inside your glass houses to try to cover for your miserable, unacceptable behavior.

(115,924 posts)and saying something like, "I was an ass and I'm really, really sorry," and then making a statement on the House floor to the effect of "There is no excuse for the words I used to refer to my colleague because there is no excuse. No matter how much we might disagree or our tempers flare, insults, especially using the words I used, are always wrong. I am ashamed and embarrassed and I offer my sincere apologies to my fellow Congressperson and this entire House. It will not happen again." What you don't do is blame your "passion" and your alleged love of God, your country and your family, none of which have anything to do with your bad temper and your foul mouth, and which only proves how phony your non-apology apology was.
Reminds me of when Newt Gingrich blamed his affairs on his "love for his country." https://www.npr.org/sections/itsallpolitics/2011/03/09/134392580/newt-gingrich-seems-to-blame-past-personal-lapses-on-patriotism
