Could the Governor of Oregon call in the National Guard to stop federal unmarked agents from committing acts of violence against peaceful protestors in their states? Could other Governors do this? I would think so but it would be an escalation so I can imagine they are trying other ways to stop it first.

In the 60's during the battle to desegregate schools, the governors of some of the states called in the NG to block the schools. Robert Kennedy threatened to have JFK federalize them and send them to Vietnam if they didn't stand down. They stood down.

If not, at least some of those governors would probably have kept their NG troops at home because sending them overseas was deeply unpopular at the time.

Say, just like on TV, as the "unknowns" are placing a protester into one of the unmarked vans, a swarm of well-marked cop cars block in the van and arrest the "unknowns."
Could it happen that way?
Why not - perhaps the locals working in conjunction with the "unknowns," leaving the mayor and city leadership out of it? If THAT is the case, we're really screwed!
