Consideration should be given to impeaching Trump again and this time trying to convict him to force him out early, even if only by a couple of weeks.
Remember that Congress (including the Senate) is sworn in in early January, whereas inauguration of the US President is obviously on January 20.
For those who will jump on me for suggesting this, it basically happened when Lamar Alexander became governor of Tennessee in 1978. The then current incumbent Ray Blanton was accused of selling pardons for criminal offenses, and the Tennessee House of Representatives, which was dominated by Democrats at the time, worked with Alexander for an early swearing in by three days. Ask Senator Lamar about this, which is from his own website: https://www.alexander.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/2019/1/turbulent-transition-the-story-behind-the-sudden-swearing-in-of-lamar-alexander-40-years-ago
Nothing that Ray Blanton did even remotely resembles anything Trump has done. This can be a litmus test of real Americans as opposed to folks who were born here that seem to be under an alien influence.
Symbolism is everything. If we win, let's get rid of these losers at the first possible opportunity. The reason I wrote this is that I saw that some Republicans said that if they get another chance at a SCOTUS appointee, they will jump at it., even if it is during the lame duck session.
OUR FOLKS NEED TO DO THE SAME WITH TRUMP.

(52,489 posts)There's no early swearing in. The exact time is specified as noon on January 20.
In the event Donnie is impeached and removed (which would still require Republican help as we won't have 67 seats even if we win a landslide), pence would take over, not Biden. Biden still wouldn't start until noon, January 20.
Besides, these republicans have no principles whatsoever.
