The advantage any future Republican has is that literally nobody on their roster could be worse than Trump.

I mean, maybe Tom Cotton, since he's a hardcore racist and fascist and is smart in that evil, Heinrich Himmler sort of way, but that's about it.

Hard to imagine any trump successor screwing up and splitting the republican party like trump. christie, cruz, any random crapo, - all could do less on the psychopath side, and more damage to the Republic.

But yes, your point remains: He'd be a disaster. His 2016 campaign was a failure to launch, though. Bridge-gate still sticks with him. And the "charm" of him being a bully to people at town halls wore off eventually. I don't see him doing particularly well in 2024 either.
