They are hoping for herd immunity before the election so Twitler can say he fixed it. Open all the schools and keep them open. Covid will sweep through communities overwhelming hospitals but the CDC won't know so we won't know. It's evil and stupid and desperate. Evil because so many will needlessly die. Stupid because states collect their own data so we'll all know the true numbers. Desperate because it won't work and at some point each community will say enough and shut the schools and everything else back down. We'll be in worse shape than if Twitler had done nothing which is why I think it is his plan because everything he touches dies.

Or, we could just agree that maybe the White House isn't where we should park a cabal of blood-gargling psychopaths.

(52,440 posts)He wants people to stop talking about the pandemic and to act as if it doesn't exist. If it's not in the media, it doesn't exist in Donnie's world.
He doesn't not care or understand that this would cause many more needless deaths.

(1,206 posts)population gets infected, and right now we're hovering around 1% so there's no way that that could happen by the election.
They can 'say' anything but it won't be true - just like everything else.

(86,898 posts)As antibodies are short-lived and some victims are getting reinfected and sicker the second time around. Not a good omen for the idea of herd immunity. Researchers/medical professionals are now thinking that herd immunity can only be achieved with a vaccine.
Aside from that getting the illness to rid the population of the virus is not a reasonable option as most previously infected have long lasting health problems after alleged recovery, a condition now in question. Many who report alleged recovery are still suffering health issues months later, antibodies that last only a week of three will not suffice for herd immunity.
This is going to be a problem for years to come.

(14,628 posts)I am really hoping that some group, maybe the American Medical Association or some other health-related national group, will step up and volunteer to assemble all hospital data so we will have a true picture of what's happening with covid-19.
Doctors and hospital administrators don't trust Dump or the ShitHole Administration any more than the sane part of America.

(51,075 posts)Norway has a population of about 5,3000,000. Norway did isolation and social distancing.
Norway has had 9000 cases to date. 253 Norwegians have died.
Sweden has a population of about 10,300,000. Sweden did not do isolation and distancing.
Sweden has had 76,492 cases as of today. 5,572 Swedes have died.
So, Sweden's death rate per population unit is about 10 times the death rate of Norway.
Up till now, we've been Norway. If we open schools, essentially ending social distancing and isolation, we will become Sweden. We can estimate that our death rate will grow to ten times as high as it is while we isolate.
That means we can expect about a million and a half deaths in 6 months if we go for herd immunity.
And PS: it won't stop there. All evidence points to the fact that there can BE no herd immunity because immunity doesn't last very long at all.

Even if we somehow get herd immunity, it would be too late to help him get elected.
Oh, and killing lots of teachers is NOT a way to get herd immunity.

(12,286 posts)The data will be gathered, not by the CDC, but it will be available.
It will be harder to come by, but reporters will track it down.
Of this I have no doubt.
