Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIs the current gov meh about covid because they think this is the beginning of 'end time'?
Pompeo is an evangelical, as is Betsy DeVos, Pence, both the head of the CDC and Surgeon General, etc. Is their lack of plan intentional or are they just fucked in the head?

(13,903 posts)Pence is, and every fn dominionist and reconstructionist a-hole in our military and federal gov't.
riots, pandemics, earthquakes, global warming, get the end timers all excited.
That is in part why some of them don't want to do anything about disasters...all part of the God's plan to make them immortal.

(26,044 posts)...Trump clearly has no religious beliefs of his own (except self-worship), so I'm sure he privately thinks the "end times" are a load of hogwash. He's "meh" about COVID because he only cares about his own re-election, and those around him, who are deeply invested in the economy über alles, have convinced him that the only way he can win is by forcing the country to re-open, and look on the inevitable death toll of the "little people" as merely collateral damage, as long as they themselves are protected from getting it.

(24,259 posts)what Jesus the Christ taught in the 4 gospels so I'd say that makes him 'an' antichrist. He's not smart nor charming enough to be 'the' biblical antitrust though.

(23,940 posts)too soon for their actions to have maximum electoral impact so they're stalling now
they play around with it, sow chaos and confusion, let things happen randomly for a month or two more with no definitive plan. they want it to be a really shitty mess.
then BLAM in September they crank it up bigly with a bunch of mask and distancing ordinance demands. then in October they roll out a "vaccine" -- maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but they'll tell us it's safe and effective regardless. publicly-available death counts and positive test rates will be adjusted accordingly.
that way they can roll into November on an ad base of "great leadership" and "best ever victories" and "aren't you grateful for the precious vaccine?"
that's how i see it playing out.

(23,940 posts)no reason they can't bake a hard lockdown into their nasty-ass cake, call it "BIG STRONG COUNTERMEASURES"
meanwhile, corrupt the USPS to the point where mail-in balloting is just as bad as they claim it is
