General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsSOOOO I was at the park across the street from my condo-walking my dog. News crew stopped me
and asked me if I had a child in the school system-I told them no, I am a teacher.
Well I talked to them about 30 minutes and I guess will be on the local 6 pm news.
I ended with My Job Shouldn't Kill Me

Might be worth giving your rep a heads up on the news segment though. Better to be ready if they do raise a fit about it.

(8,209 posts)If you posted the video, anyone could identify you and scrutinize your posts for anything that could be deemed inappropriate for a teacher.
I mean, it would be like changing your screen name to your real name.

I've been on the news a few times as a teacher, it's remarkable how quickly they turn around raw interview into a story.

(2,198 posts)I'm good with digging into a webpage code to find a video link.
If you send their website when it airs, I should be able to isolate the specific code for a permanent link or even extract the video for you to keep, so that it doesn't depend on their website.

(54,476 posts)It was in January, 2008, and I was in New York City for work. I was stopped on 7th Avenue by a TV crew looking for "man-in-the-street" comments about the primary race between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. It was a GERMAN TV crew. I told them that these were both people I had met, and admired--IN GERMAN. They were rendered speechless that the first American they stopped on the street in Manhattan not only spoke fluent German, but had met both candidates. They were very appreciative of my time, but said I was totally useless to them, as the German public was thoroughly convinced that the average American on the street would never be fluent in German, and therefore suspect that the interview was staged.
I told them that in that case, they should go do their filming in Tennessee or some such place, because New York City was the one place in the USA where they should NEVER stop someone at random and assume he DOESN'T speak this or that language.
cannabis_flower
(3,768 posts)just stopped you when you started speaking German and asked you to answer in English instead.
DFW
(54,476 posts)They might not have been in New York long. Im sure its a plum assignment for a TV crew from München. The senior correspondent can stay for years if he is deemed to do a good job, but the anonymous crews behind the cameras probably rotate regularly.
