AARP: 8 Major Retailers Mandate Face Masks for Shoppers

8 Major Retailers Mandate Face Masks for Shoppers
Some of the country's biggest chains are requiring customers to cover up

AARP.org
by Andy Markowitz, AARP, Updated July 9, 2020

Read here: https://www.aarp.org/health/healthy-living/info-2020/retailers-require-face-masks-coronavirus.html

Excerpts:
With the country reaching record highs in new coronavirus cases, many state, city and county governments are ordering that people wear masks when out and about. That's in line with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that face coverings help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Some of America's biggest retail companies have taken the same tack, requiring face masks in stores for shoppers as well as staff, whether or not local rules are in place.

Among the 40 largest retailers in the U.S., as ranked by the National Retail Federation (NRF) on the basis of sales, most require public-facing employees to don masks while on duty, according to an AARP review of their websites’ coronavirus sections.

Eight of those companies have extended the rule to all customers chainwide (as opposed to just in states or communities that have made mask wearing in public mandatory). Another 11 directly request or recommend that patrons cover their faces while shopping. In most cases the store numbers below are from the NRF, as of 2019.

Far too many companies are still using these lines of BS to avoid enforcement of the rules, quote:

.....We'll also be encouraging customers and members to wear face coverings....(Walmart)
.....We encourage all our customers to wear a mask....(Kroger)
.....customers are asked to wear face covers before entering the store....(Walgreens)
.....We strongly encourage customers to wear masks or other face coverings....(Best Buy)

1. "Well, I have (or my wife or my friend has) a unique condition that requires A Very Special Exemption." Then stay home. Make other arrangements. Just ran into some pillock on YouTube today who says his wife is "looking into" whether she can use a face shield at work instead of a cloth mask. This pandemic has been going on for months, sport. How long does she need to research alternatives? There is no wife; you're just a troll using a little buh-whuh-abuh to be obnoxious.

2. "Nobody tells me how to live my life!!" And yet you still wear a shirt and shoes and something to cover your groin when you go to the Kwik-Mart, buddy. Assuming you're employed, you're still expected to show up at work at a certain time if you want to collect a paycheck, but you still have to stop for red lights on the way. You pay taxes. People tell you how to live your life all the time. It's part of being a grown-up living in a society.

This doesn't begin to go away until everyone does their part. The ones who persist in the arms-folded, I'm-not-gonna-and-you-can't-make-me pout perfected by their idiot leader are going to find themselves in a world of pain when the rest of the nation decides it no longer wishes to tolerate their crap.

to wear masks and social distance for the sake of public health and to help put an end to this epidemic in our country, we might get somewhere.

But no, he just keeps doubling down on his anti-science bullshit and the virus continues to spread and kill unabated because people follow his lead and see this as a political issue rather than the serious public health problem that it is.

The problem is two-fold. An ignorant, do-nothing excuse of a leader (and his minions) and a population of his followers who are too stupid and defiant to understand the very practical reasons for taking the necessary precautions that will prevent this virus from crippling the nation.

7. Yes, SM and I believe a President Biden would be on TV......

doing PSAs demonstrating wearing a mask, social distancing and sanitation as good examples for the people, and I believe he would have others in his administration do the same. Thousands of lives would be saved.

And, hypothetically if tRump were to do the above actions and PSAs, I believe you are right that many of his fan base would comply in lock-step.

Unfortunately, Republicans conform only to the pleasures of big business and the ultra-wealthy who are concerned with business profits, not human lives.

Trump. I think we would be in much better shape.

Hell, if Hillary had become president, I honestly believe we would not be in the place we are now. She would have taken charge of this back in February and would have made sure that it had not gotten to the place it is right now.

Trump is STILL ignoring the problem and hoping it will go away on its own, which infuriates me. He is such a failure as a leader and as a human being. He just doesn't care and he never will until it affects him directly. And I honestly hope it does.

Hope all is going well with you, KY_EnviroGuy!

the virus spread. If ReTHUGs think they can hide 134,000 deaths and 3million persons with the virus, the people will show them. Watch the school superintendents, administrators, teachers and parents. ReTHUGs are in for a rude awakening.

The Con and ReTHUGs own this disaster

A. Wear a mask or don’t come in
B. Don’t wanna wear a mask, then STAY THE FUCK HOME!!
Either works to stop the spread.

In the long run, even the red idiots will get tired of being refused and will donn a mask

9. What happens once inside the store?
Sat Jul 11, 2020, 07:37 AM

Those masks become mouth, neck guards, and earrings. It is not just customers doing this, but employees as well. One cashier, who had her's dangling from her ear, told me she could not wear it 8 hours a day and only put it on when a customer came to her register.

While waiting on a Walmart checkout line, there were 3 women (together) packing up their carts, who pulled down their masks and started yelling and screaming at each other. They continued their fighting walking out of the store.

Even without the virus, who would want to be anywhere around them?

It spends just as good as smart people's cash and god forbid we offend the stupid.

Sorry, but I'm not sugar coating it anymore. Go out in public without a mask in the face of this pandemic...after all we know today...and yes, you are fucking stupid.
