President Donald Trump was furious over the Supreme Court's rulings Thursday morning, after justices handed down a split decision over whether he can shield his tax records from investigators.
Trump also complained that he was the victim of "political prosecution," although he is not, in fact, being prosecuted in either case.
The decisions handed a win to the Manhattan district attorney, but rejected parallel efforts by Democrats in the House of Representatives.

(4,477 posts)Issue about congressonal access kicked back to lower court, insuring it will not be decided until after the election (meaning probably never), and the "win" for Vance means Barr will shut down the entire process to protect Trump as soon as Vance tries to actually get the records, if not before.

(45,031 posts)Sure we may not see his actual taxes before Election Day - but the big political and messaging and brand liability is that Trump is very actively hiding his taxes. This whole issue has just taken on new energy that Trump will pay for. Joe is already on the job.

(5,257 posts)The Court did not "reject[] parallel efforts by Democrats." Not at all. It did the opposite. The author got a little mixed up.

At any rate, no disclosure of taxes or finances until after the election. So why is Trump pissed.
(Except that he's always pissed...)

Or then again, it could have been a typo. In which case I'd be very concerned...

(3,406 posts)Was rejected, when the stronger argument for oversight and subpoena power in oversight investigations. The sole right for impeachment belongs to congress and therefore shall be allowed to investigate. That gives SCOTUS no choice but to fall back on their Nixon and Clinton decisions that the Presidential powers do not supersede congress.
