Trump is at heart an authoritarian. It's why he never worked for a public company or sat on a board of a corporation. All of his companies have been of the 'sole proprieter' type where he was the only boss.

He is as unsuited to being in charge of a Democracy as anybody on the planet.

To maintain its status under the Constitution, the USSC needs the Congress to have the power to check the President.

I remember watching her face during those Anita Hill hearings, as she sat behind her husband while he barked about being such a victim ("a high-tech lynching" he called it). And she sat there looking all outraged and affronted whenever he was questioned in a way she didn't like. Her facial expressions gave her away.

And I thought she was being the "loyal wifey" at the time. I didn't know much about her back then. I didn't realize til later that she was a full-on operative. She was NOT a "noncombatant." Pat Nixon was a noncombatant. Even Kavanaugh's wife appears to be a noncombatant. Balonia trump seems to be pretty much a noncombatant - probably because of the kid-in-school thing that takes up most of her time and attention, I'd guess. But Ginny Thomas has been an active front-line wrong-wing combatant for years.
