General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI was lectured this morning by Jeannie who said I was too angry.
I had just told her about Rachel's show last night about Arizona now is the worst in the world
for covid!. She says I'm going to get an ulcer or a heart attack and I said she is burying her head
in the sand.
I guess I can't help being mad. The stupidity of those in charge is staggering and dangerous.
And not just for the covid response. The entire span of this administration on EVERYTHING is
making me crazy. I need to chill, take a walk, play my guitar, smoke a bowl.
Still hangin' in there in the new covid capital of the world.

(25,816 posts)Our numbers here are small compared to Phoenix or Tucson, but have increased
600% in a month. The city council voted yesterday to NOT mandate masks. The
county sheriff, Mark Dannels (who I know from Little League days) said enforcement
would just be too tough.
I was encouraged a bit by my last trip to town when everyone at the hardware store
and grocery store was masked, for the FIRST time. Where's that bowl?

(860 posts)I was at the intel school a couple times in the early 80's. Sierra Vista was a VERY red area back then, can't imagine what it is like today.

(25,816 posts)I did a lot of construction up there and my dad is buried there.
After 9-11 it got very strict at the gate. I had contractor clearance with background
check, which I can't believe I passed.
This area is great but the town is reddish, retirees and army and cowboys.
But we're in district 2 which was Giffords old district and is currently held by
Ann Kirkpatrick, also a D. That's because the district extends into parts of Tucson.

My state did really well until our governor was hamstrung by our outrageously Rwing legislature. We opened up because they were against her slow plan and we are booming up now, at least for us it is booming up.
Our health care leader made a comment about how we were among the top states dealing with this until we opened up, will we learn anything? It was deliciously snide but I doubt it helps.
All of this on top of just having Trump around doing his thing is the worst I can imagine. I shouted and cheered in my living room when Bush** left and Cheney finally got on that helicopter. I am too worn out this time. I will sigh and hopefully begin to let it all go sometime before I die.
