Trump may have crossed the Rubicon

Both the military and intelligence agencies play the long game, and the fantasy that is Trump has a finite shelflife, which is quickly drawing to a close. The betrayal of the military, coupled with the insidious destruction of the public trust as well as the internal stability of the intelligence agencies is enough to force the hand of these individuals to end this.

Many of us who have been around for a long time believe that actions against the system as a whole by people in power are not tolerated well. Trump has essentially attempted to destroy the fabric or the glue which holds this nation together and for a variety of reasons, some of which are more altruistic than others, this will not be allowed. It is one thing for the rich to get richer, it is another thing to undermine the basis for the existence of the country in order that the rich may become richer. He is risking cataclysm and TPTB know this.

Military people (active, vets, families) will not take kindly to Trump supporting bounties on their heads.

Julius Caesar's crossing the Rubicon river in January 49 BC precipitated the Roman Civil War, which ultimately led to Caesar becoming dictator and the rise of the imperial era of Rome.

I do not think tRump will precipitate a civil war, though he may toy with the idea and may even try. I don't think there will be one.

Nor do I think he will succeed and become dictator. I think he will lose the election and be forced out of office if he resists.

But we must be vigilant. There needs to be a lot of work to ensure victory.

Blacks in particular. Attacks on Black stars have been persistent. There has been some, 'blacks need to arm', etc. Riots would help the trump cause greatly.

Suspect trump hopes that in such a conflict, police will rally to his side. trump could impose 'Emergency powers' and authoritarian rule, 'delaying' elections, etc.

This threat should not be cavalierly dismissed, imo.

Most republicon politicians have no viable re-election option other than trump. That is why so few 'con defections.

That is why left demands that republicons fight trump are ignored in large part.

Trump's a traitor: The bounty should be on his head (metaphorically speaking)

Is the Russian bounty scandal the final nail in Donald Trump's (political) coffin? It certainly should be

LUCIAN K. TRUSCOTT IV
Salon.com, JULY 4, 2020

The first story of the rest of Donald Trump's life was published last Friday in the New York Times, revealing that the Russian intelligence agency known as the GRU has been paying bonuses to Taliban fighters to kill Americans, and that this intelligence had been reported to Trump and had been known at least since March. The story was subsequently confirmed by the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal and the AP.

But at least as interesting as the facts in the story was this gem a few paragraphs down: "Spokespeople at the National Security Council, the Pentagon, the State Department and the C.I.A. declined to comment," the Times reported, pretty much giving us a list of who in government wants Donald Trump out of office. Remember that old saying, "When they tell you it's not about sex, it's about sex." Well, when newspapers tell you who refuses to comment on a story, they're telling you who leaked the story to them in the first place and hinting strongly at their motive.

Snip...

Trump's support among senior military leaders is gone. It finally reached the point where the Pentagon in effect told Trump “no” when it comes to using active duty troops against American protesters. The intelligence community has taken the gloves off. They knew as far back as the middle of 2016 that the Russians were helping Trump's presidential campaign, and they haven't been shy about their opposition to his cozying up to Putin.

As he creates the very problems he seeks to derive credit for curing.

Ruin the economy then brag about some jobs returning, make the pandemic 100x worse then claim credit for imaginary reversal.

He and his followers are delusional.

For years the Republican leadership has feared the far right crazies starting with the tea party, and their fear of a primary challenge from the right have the two options; 1) resign, 2) move all of the way to the right.
