Tuned in to see what was happening in the world and several people were being interviewed in Prescott, AZ. One guy was a Trump supporter holding a huge American flag. He was asked about the pandemic, but went off on how "This (gathering) is our protest....against all the other protests. We're here to support President Trump." Interviewer again asked about the pandemic and people's (including this guy's) lack of masks and he quickly said he wasn't worried about it. Then went on about how he's opposed to Antifa and BLM and how they're both "communist organizations--you can look it up" and that if the BLM groups were really concerned about black lives, they'd be protesting "all the aborted black babies" and the lives lost by young black men shooting each other.
The interviewer abruptly shifted over to a couple, one who was an RN and the other a surgeon. Husband had mask on, nurse's was down while she was talking. She reiterated the non-partisan nature of mask-wearing and the importance of proper safety measures (hand washing, etc.).
Just goes to show the difference between rational and irrational people that we can meet in public.

(11,023 posts)No mask order for the city or county, Major rodeo this past week through tomorrow, big fourth of July celebrations today. Theoretically the bar crawling on Whiskey Row will be shut down by the governor's bar closures, but it's gonna be bad.

(11,023 posts)A lot of people in the town square in the reports I'm seeing.
And frankly, since every other big event in the state is cancelled, they probably should've just cancelled the rodeo completely, rather than just the dance and parade - even Vanilla Ice was smart enough to cancel his concert, albeit at the last minute.
Oh, and they're requiring guests to sign a waiver now too. They know it's going to be a shitshow and don't want to be responsible.
But the libertarian retirees want their freedoms, so...

(21,144 posts)Wear a mask. She is very overweight but a nice person. I hope she will be safe. Ive known her since she was a child and shes 41. Her Dad is a die hard repuke who used to call us the looney liberals from California. He lost his home to foreclosure and Struggles financially but still thinks he is better than us because of liberty and freedom and hard work and being a repuke is a true American. Even though we still have our home and savings and dont struggle financially.

(12,631 posts)of a cult leader and had a following. Something makes me think he moved on from there, but was quite a newsworthy character in his day. And gave Prescott a rep.
