Not Just Sinatra: Trump f**ks over the U.S.A. Freedom Kids

Remember this ridiculous spectacle from Trump's 2016 campaign?

Many people might remember The Freedom Kids but not everyone is aware of the rest of the story. They were promised some things than never materialized and their manager sued Trump:

USA Freedom Kids v. Trump: Dancing kids group sues GOP nominee

Popick claimed the Trump campaign failed to allow the group to set up a table to sell CDs at a rally and then, after making a trek from Florida to Des Moines, Iowa, canceled the Freedom Kids' scheduled performance. He said the Trump campaign never made the situation right and that it was worth legal action.

"This is the way they played us," he said. "They can only ignore us for so long."

He threatened to sue in late July, when he recounted the story in full to CNN. Popick said he believes the case will go to trial, although his lawyer said, "These types of things should be settled."

A copy of the suit provided to CNN showed that it was filed last week, and the attorney representing the plaintiffs told CNN he expects the Trump campaign to be served with the suit in the near future, if it has not already. Upon receipt of the lawsuit, the Trump campaign will have 20 days to respond, attorney Marc Shapiro said.

That's one way to learn about how a confidence man works. Maybe they will be more careful in the future?

It's not like getting screwed/stiffed by Trump and Associates is anything but his normal way of doing business. There is a long list of people and municipalitys, (and lawsuits) that can attest to the trumpian screwing procedure for winning by stiffing.

The manager/dad was a Trumpanzee and didn't want a spat with Trump. Also, keeping it going would have kissed any future gigs goodbye, considering what their shtick was.

USA Freedom Kids drops lawsuit against Trump campaign
Dec. 19, 2016

The lawsuit filed by a Collier County pop music group against President-elect Donald Trump's campaign is no more.

On Dec. 13, Pop Media Group, which represents the USA Freedom Kids singing troupe, voluntarily dismissed its case in Sarasota County Circuit Court, according to online court documents.

When reached by phone Monday, Popick would not discuss the lawsuit but said Trump is the right person to lead the United States. "The obvious issue aside, I really think he is exactly what this country needs right now," Popick said. After engaging in the public spat with Trump campaign, USA Freedom Kids went on a hiatus, Popick said.

"The political stuff really took a toll on (the girls)," said Popick, whose daughter is part of the group.

I remember seeing that and thinking about the total lack of social awareness it would take to watch such cloying and crude propaganda and to somehow think it was cute or endearing or clever.

Even back during my relative innocence of early 2016 I knew there were plenty of suckers who would eat up that kind of crap, and worse, the far uglier crap Trump was selling, but still my only real fear of Trump becoming president was that something BIG (much more than "What about her emails!?" ), real or invented, would materialize as an October Surprise to bring Hillary Clinton down.

That there were enough "deplorables", and enough Bernie-or-bust idiots, and enough people who couldn't see the clear threat that Trump represented to find the motivation to get out there and vote against Trump, so that Trump could eke out an Electoral College victory? Even my already fairly cynical view of humanity back then hadn't been sufficiently calibrated to accommodate that possibility.
