(8,962 posts)Namely anyone running for office with an "R" after their name. Since 99% of the former GOP establishment made the decision to jump on board Trump's leaky boat, when it ultimately sinks those passengers can sink along with it. And this is what TLP is going for. Kill the Trumplican party once and for all, and look ahead toward building it back up again as a functional center-right entity capable of actual governance and international diplomacy. At that point, they will proceed to do battle with Democrats once again.

(7,629 posts)Republicans represent special interests and corporations. TLP is a group of republicans.

(1,596 posts)Insinuating that I'm a Trump supporter when I'm the one suspicious of a bunch of Republican operatives.
Just delightful!
Budi
(15,325 posts)No One.
Accusing someone of calling you a Trump supporter is as bad as calling someone a Trump supporter.
Unless you are actually a Trump supporter, then that is worse than either being called one OR accusing someone.
Later..
Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.

They responded to the article excerpt that makes up 100% of your OP, so unless you're Alex Shephard, why take their comment as a personal attack?

(7,681 posts)to get the intended meaning of a post like that. You are certainly free to disagree but that's the way I read it.
Budi
(15,325 posts)It appears they aren't fond of McGrath, Biden, Democrats, Pelosi etc..& now knowing this I believe it's rather obvious that you are correct.
New Republic
Political views
"In its current incarnation, The New Republic is unambiguously to the left of center and is often critical of the Democratic establishment and strongly in favor of universal health care."
Also, in the article it refers to & quotes someone named Galen.
Be right back.....fact checking Galen
melman
(7,681 posts)"Reed Galen is a co-founder of The Lincoln Project. He is an independent political strategist whose years of experience stem from working for President George W. Bush, Senator John McCain, and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger."

(7,681 posts)But people who worked to elect GW Bush are A-OK?
Conway - deeply involved with Clinton impeachmet
Wilson - worked for Rudy Giuliani and GHW Bush. Attacked Obama non-stop for eight years.
Galen - worked for GW Bush and McCain
Schmidt - worked for Bush and McCain. and personally selected Sarah Palin
These people are just peachy? I find that incredible.
Budi
(15,325 posts)They all know it as well.
They're welcome to beat the piss out of Trump & his bs cult that keeps him in power.
Hope their efforts manage to restore the House & Senate to the center where all things balance..

Biden knows the law, the rules, and the game like the back of his 70 yr old hand.
President Joe Biden knows where & how the line is drawn.
If Project Lincoln is putting it all out there to bury Trump & every complicit character beholding to him, then by all means Project Lincoln, take your place among the millions who have no voice left, and build us the enthusiasm & join us on that path to taking our Democratic Republic back from the edge of the abyss.
We have only 4 months to save ourselves.

(10,842 posts)A whiny message from someone who got their butt hurt by the messages. They are hitting home at the heart of the GOP, and the author feels it.

(360 posts)Faulty logic and faulty analysis based upon faulty logic.
In the game of politics, one welcomes votes coming from any direction. Those who insist on "purity" usually lose and lose big.
The ads by Lincoln Project are sincere for this cycle and I welcome them. They are not bound by the ethics and protocol of the DNC and can push the envelope.
If (and it is a big if) you want Biden to win, you should welcome and embrace republican support - albeit temporarily until 11/03. If you can't embrace it, not whining about it may be a less error-prone position.

(89,241 posts)we went through this in 2016 and the booing of Clinton and others at the DNC by these types that prefer Trump over Democrats.
May I say that it largely derives from purity politics, which is a familiar theme amongst those attacking Hillary in 2016, and Biden in 2020.

Hekate
(90,564 posts)What would be the ever-loving point of that? Anyone to the left of moderate is already going to vote for Biden and if they arent, their head is too far up you know where to hear the screaming.
The audience The Lincoln Project is aiming for is (1) Trump himself, because he is so easy to bait and it throws him off his game. I notice they are using his own trigger-words on him: weak, loser, laughingstock all the stuff he projects on to others are his own deepest insecurities and fears. Hillary told us, remember? (2) Swing voters who are now sickened by what they see and need to have the way out pointed out to them. (3) Any lifelong Republican who has a remnant of conscience, sense, and/or understanding of the Constitution but has devolved into voting for the GOP out of mere habit, and is now sickened by what they see and needs a way out.
The cultists and tribalists and white nationalists are a completely lost cause. Hillary was being gentle when she called them a basket of deplorables. Dems shouldnt waste our time and money trying to win them over The Lincoln Project certainly isnt bothering.
I see their ads online, and they just get better and better. The one with the doctor who is a SEAL veteran was a punch to the gut for any American appalled by the news of Russia offering a bounty for the Taliban to kill American soldiers. When he named one of his bona fides as being pro life that was not for me or you, that was for any Republican tuning in who needs a reason to listen to someone telling them to vote for Joe.
And if they want to claim some credit if Biden wins? Fine by me.
#2020💙 VoteBiden 💙VoteDemocrats
And Thank you, Lincoln Project

(64,875 posts)The ads are targeting people who thought maybe "shaking things up" in 2016 was a good idea.
The ads are targeting liberals, as the piece suggests! Liberals don't need convincing that PINO is an abomination.
And, the math suggests they don't need to change 10 million minds.
They need to convince about 90,000 minds, or cement any thoughts that their 2016 vote was a mistake.
The entire premise is flawed.
