History Channel. Grant was actually the best Union general who Lincoln move from the western theater to the east where Lee had regularly whipped up on the mediocre Union generals he was up against.
That changed with Grant. Grant kicked his ass. And he wasn't a drunkard. He did smoke a ton of cigars thougn.
