I've lost count of the number of times Mourning Joe has said this morning that 'neither Jeb Bush nor Chris Christie would ever have said that.' It's their 2016 ticket. So, on November 7th, while we're celebrating and gearing up to help our president have a spectacularly successful four more years, we need to start our own 2016 focus. Four years comes around in a heartbeat.

(3,786 posts)Hillary will be pushing 70, and I think Biden will be well past 70 by then. Voters generally don't like to vote for people that old for feat that they'll die in office. We need to be looking for some new, younger blood. As much as I'd love to see Howard Dean run again, I think he'll likely be too old too (he's about the same age as Hillary).
The guy I would absolutely LOVE to see run is MY Senator, Sherrod Brown. That's one guy I would really support enthusiastically.

(3,626 posts)Hillary is 65 next month. In four years she'll be 69 and we'll hope to get eight years. That might not be old under ordinary circumstances, but the stress of being president takes its toll. Joe's 70, so same problem. I love Sherrod Brown, but some of those less-known speakers at the convention could probably be great possibilities, too. The point is, we need to start 'grooming' now.

(657 posts)Maybe this is their way of getting rid of the extreme base, if Mitt wins and screws up( which now you can almost guarantee), they won't be able to get in for a while, they want to play out the next 4 yrs and put up someone more moderate damn the base.

(34,845 posts)Does anyone still see Jeb or Christie as some sort of stealth candidate? Be real!
And Biden? Clinton? Both too old, I don't care about Reagan. And we need to keep up the flow of young, fresh faces, not politicians who couldn't get elected on their own before.
Obama wins and gives his blessing to the next smart man/woman in the Democratic fold. The Republicans are not going to be able to recover from Palin/Romney for a long time to come.

(3,626 posts)Isn't that what I said about Clinton/Biden/newcomers? I disagree about four years from now, which will come very quickly, IMO. It seems like only months ago that we were flabbergasted, disbelieving that Palin was actually taken seriously by a large percentage of voters. I'm still stunned by that, and that polls show this is not (yet) a total Obama landslide. Repiglicans always think way ahead, and somehow always recover from the most incredible disasters. So I reiterate, we will need to start to work 11/7/12.
