That's why the rest of us regular Americans have to pay so damned MUCH! Because the richest people get a FREE RIDE and a FREE LUNCH at OUR expense."Frankly, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if it was the Romney Campaign that 'leaked' this tape in a desperate attempt to distract from his foreign policy blunders. Have you ever heard the expression "spilling soup to cover vomit?" It's a political maneuver where you release a story that makes you look bad to distract from another story that makes you look worse. The lesser story has credibility because nobody believes you'd deliberately leak a story that makes you look bad.
In any case, if they want to drag the news story away from Mitt's foreign policy ineptitude, back to the standard meme of 'don't charge the rich more taxes when half the country pays no (income) taxes (ie='don't tax the RICH more, tax the POOR some more)," we should respond by using it as an excuse to ask him about his taxes again.
The line of attack should be as follows:
"You said that 47% of the people in the country pay no income taxes. DO YOU? How MUCH income tax have you paid over the last ten years?" And no, this time we won't let him slither out of it by saying 'taxes' rather than INCOME taxes.
YES, we all pay too much tax, and we're pissed off about it.
Republicans have successfully turned this anger against GOVERNMENT.
Democrats should re-direct it back where it belongs....at the top 1% WHO ARE NOT PAYING THEIR SHARE.

(5,955 posts)foreign policy incompetence, and drag the news cycle back to the standard Republican meme about 'freeloaders.'
Mitt is 'standing by' his statement to the plutocrats about half of America being dependent on handouts.

When, in fact, the only people who live in a culture of entitlement in America are the financial elite who think they're entitled to NOT pay their fair share in taxes because they're 'job creators,' and think they shouldn't have to go to jail like poor folks when they commit white collar crimes because...well, they're not really criminals.
So, again, the next question for Mitt should be "Are you ONE OF those people who 'pay no INCOME taxes?'"

(5,955 posts)to go after the high income tax cheats, he buggered off to work for the Swiss national bank, where all of that secret plutocratic money was headed. And my guess is that Mitt's 'loyalties' to the United States run just about as deep, and when all this is over he'll move to the Cayman Islands so he can see and caress his money. Maybe roll around in it naked.
