(15,220 posts)I also like Val Demings.
Kamala Harris is incredibly smart and talented but as shallow as this sounds, her voice drives me nuts. If shes the choice, Ill just have to get over my pettiness! But I think she is best left in the Senate where she is very effective.

(5,295 posts)She is especially skilled at being the attack dog to take it to trump on the stump and allow Joe to stay above the fray, be himself, and portray the calm image of stability and competence we need right now.

(10,475 posts)We have a Republican Governor, he'll get to appoint a Republican to her seat until the special election, then if he decides to run, he could get elected, he's that popular here. We can't take that chance.

(108,960 posts)She wasn't the one to decide on prosecution or not, because that decision was made after the investigation was over, when she'd already gone on to the Senate.
The updates to your second link make the same point:
Update May 29 11 a.m. ET: In a statement, the Hennepin County attorney's office said: "Sen. Klobuchar's last day in the office here was December 31 2006, and she had no involvement in the prosecution of this case at all."
Update May 29 12:50 p.m. ET: Speaking on MSNBC on Friday, Klobuchar said "I never declined the case. It was handled and sent to the grand jury ... When I was county attorney, cases we had involving officer-involved shootings went to a grand jury. I think that was wrong, now. It would have been much better if I took responsibility and looked at cases and made a decision myself."
And so does the third link:
Despite her not having an active role in the case, the ties to the officer and Floyd's death have revived issues around her relationship with the black community and caused her name to trend on social media in association with the Floyd case.
She did not participate in the decision whether to prosecute or not. Months after she entered the sentence, they sent the case to a Grand Jury.

(2,701 posts)ABC News, adding that driving her rise is in part due to the fact that the team values her early endorsement.
In early June 2019, she attended a fundraiser for the Biden campaign in downtown Atlanta. A few weeks later in late June, she sat alongside Biden's wife, Jill, at the first presidential primary debate in Miami as a special guest of the campaign. Throughout the primary season, as Biden's campaign was cast as faltering and lackluster, she stumped for him in Iowa, Texas, Georgia, and the all-important state of South Carolina, which revived his candidacy.
As attention fell elsewhere, even on other Democratic leaders within her own state, such as Stacey Abrams, the former Georgia House minority leader, allies of Biden were keeping a careful watch on Bottoms.
"There is a young lady right there in Georgia who I think would make a tremendous VP candidate, and thats the mayor of Atlanta, Keisha Lance Bottoms," House Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-S.C., told the Financial Times in March of this year.
<Snip>
Largely flying under the radar, her backing provided Biden with critical support from a prominent, black, female force from the South, at a time when Harris' sharp attacks wounded his campaign.
"For me, it was most important that we have a president who doesnt have to walk in the door and figure out where the light switch is, that we have somebody who can lead on Day One," Bottoms told the Associated Press in an interview before her endorsement announcement - a quote that is displayed prominently on Biden's endorsement page of his campaign website.
Her sentiment is one that is mirrored in Biden's own public discussions about his search for a running mate. He has long said that the "first and most important attribute" he is looking for is readiness to step into the role of president if anything were to happen to him. He also often adds that Obama urged him to look for a partner who is "simpatico" and "agrees strategically" with him.

(904 posts)I really hope Biden picks someone at (or above) his level, like Kamala Harris. She's a kick *ss debater, has been nationally vetted, and would be a readymade candidate for President in 2024/2028. The media will like her as a pick; her and Biden butted heads during the dem debates and choosing someone who isn't a sycophant is a compelling story. Not that us dems have sycophants, we are kind of a cat herd after all. 😆

(5,586 posts)The states that will matter in November; are Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
I want the best VP candidate that can help move voters in those states. Amy is from that area, and performed well with that constituency in the primaries. Better than Warren or Harris anyway.
The popular vote doesnt mean shit if we end up with Trump again.
