White House compares Trump's church visit to Churchill
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Wednesday compared President Trumps photo opportunity in front of St. Johns Episcopal Church to former British Prime Minister Winston Churchills examination of World War II bombing damage in 1941.
The press secretary likened the controversial walk by Trump, which was immediately preceded by police aggressively pushing peaceful protesters out of Lafayette Square, not only to the famous Churchill visit but also to several notable moments in U.S. presidential history.
Through all of time, we have seen presidents and leaders across the world who have had leadership moments and very powerful symbols that were important for a nation to see at any given time to show a message of resilience and determination, she said, "Like Churchill, we saw him inspecting the bombing damage. It sent a powerful message of leadership to the British people.

On Wednesday, McEnany said authorities used appropriate force in clearing the protesters, noting a statement from U.S. Park Police that described demonstrators throwing bricks and frozen water bottles at authorities.
(So the protesters were carrying frozen water bottles on them? Or did they have portable freezers? )
I think U.S. Park [Police], when having bricks thrown at them and frozen water bottles, had the right to act, McEnany told reporters. They acted with the appropriate level of force to protect themselves, to protect the average citizenry and to protect the peaceful protesters who were among them as well.

Anderson Cooper Goes Off on Kayleigh McEnany for Trump-Churchill Comments: This President Praises Tyrants!
Churchill joined the military, saw combat. The president avoided all that, as we know. Bone spurs, were told, Cooper elaborated. Churchill wrote books. The president, hes had books ghostwritten for him.
He continued going down a list and said, Churchill rallied Britain in the face of evil. He united the world against it. This president praises tyrants. He seeks to emulate them. The press secretary compares the two men I mean, shes right. Theyre both leaders of countries. Theyre both old. Theyre both large. And both walked through rubble. One did it for his country. Trump did it for himself.

(11,725 posts)Except those other leaders weren't fake photo ops McEnany! Churchill, I am sure, had a security detail but he went out during war time and inspected the damage. He also had a history of service to England. He wasn't a draft dodging loser like Trump.
Even GW Bush exposed himself to pollutants to stand in the rubble of the Towers. He didn't just stop by in his limousine and run the hell away like Trump did.
Trump ordered police to brutalize peaceful protesters to take a picture in front of a church he doesn't even go to, using a book he doesn't even know about, to make himself look strong. This, after spending days in a bunker because protesters were saying mean things to him.
Yeah, that is my idea of presidential...
