Do you think the GOP stays silent about Trump's abuses because he does what they want?

Which everything he's done so far and they simply couldn't give a flying fuck what anyone thinks?

I do. Trump is doing everything they want. He is who they are.

I know it's hard for some people to believe the answer could be this simple, but sometimes it is.

Especially the part about "losing support" because when you break from Trump you don't just lose support, you get eviscerated by his most loyal cult members, and it ain't pretty. Jeff Flake is Exhibit A.

But Trump is doing some things at a very rapid pace. Destroying government agency after government agency. Generating extreme distrust between the American people and the federal government. Made the rich richer and gave corporations the incentive to repatriate funds without incentive to use those funds in any meaningful way. They might loathe the man but they love these things.

And for your number one viewing pleasure, how can they loathe him and still stay silent.....

They do what he wants so they can be re-elected. Nothing else matters to them.

They're running the show. He's just their useful idiot.
They've convinced him that these ideas are popular.
He cares about popular.
They don't.

What Donald does is what the GOP is all about. Not one thing, has caused them the slightest bit of distress. They brought him to the dance, and they like his style. The thing about the 'base', is that the GOP knows they can not win elections because the base is not enough votes...which is why they need to lie, cheat, and steal. The 'base' wins them nothing....except...perception that they can win an election, so it's easier to steal.

A year ago:

White Democrats (64%) are far more likely than white Republicans (15%) to say the country hasn’t gone far enough when it comes to giving black people equal rights with whites. About half of Republicans say it’s been about right, while a sizable minority (31%) says the country has gone too far in this regard.

The TEA Party.

Instead, it chased the moderates out...including primarying and winning against them. Even to the extent on turning on some of the architects of the TEA Party and voting them out.

And then it got the worst elements of their "base" completely riled up....and all Donnie Boy had to do, was stop using the dog whistles and flat out state what they wanted to hear.

And when confronted with the possibility of looking weak in front of Trump and the base that elected them, they opted to keep their jobs. Oh and get a tax cut and install their judges.

They'll stay silent in the hopes they can squeeze by another election. If they lose the majority, oh well, now they can just sit on their hands and criticize all day while not offering up solutions.
