Reichstag Fire

https://www.britannica.com/event/Reichstag-fire

<snip>

Reichstag fire, burning of the Reichstag (parliament) building in Berlin, on the night of February 27, 1933, a key event in the establishment of the Nazi dictatorship and widely believed to have been contrived by the newly formed Nazi government itself to turn public opinion against its opponents and to assume emergency powers.

the Reichstag comparison didn't occur to me until you mentioned it. I think you're on to something.

No matter the instigators of violent protests, it can't be underestimated how much Trump and Company will use this as evidence that a strongman, law and order type is needed. One would think these circumstances show the vital need for criminal justice reform and a spirit of love and compassion, but 1968 proves that's not necessarily how voters react. Same with 2004.

Japanese internment camps were established during World War II by President Franklin Roosevelt through his Executive Order 9066. From 1942 to 1945, it was the policy of the U.S. government that people of Japanese descent would be interred in isolated camps.Feb 21, 2020

...relies on exploiting existing conflicts in the target society. I could probably dig out the reference to this in the Russian Information Warfare paper that I first read it in, but it's not really hard to see.

They were promoting several regional secessionist movements in the US over the last few years (Republic of CA and one in TX), so it's no surprise what they'd like to see in the end. Break us up as they were.

But yeah, kinda razor's edge stuff going on right now.

And I stand by my statement. You have no evidence that "they" (undefined) instigated the violent protests.

Whoever ‘they’ are...want chaos ... I am not sure that ‘who’ matters....violence is happening...

And if, God forbid, another black person gets seriously injured in this chaos, anywhere....💣💥

...and no evidence (a la the "REICHSTAG FIRE" reference) that violence is being instigated by the authorities.
